Tribute to Jon Hodge
It was Jon (with Jerry) who made me a historian of science; an inch away from a counterfactual me, excited by Jon's enthusiasm at the freshers' fair HPS table I took a first year subsidiary subject in HPS in 1979. He taught me in first year philosophy of science: a memorably effective - and funny - lecturer, with his acerbic take on Popper's account of himself: 'Plato, Aristotle, Popper'; 'Moses, Jesus, Poppper'! I was lucky to come back to the department as a research fellow just under a decade ago, and it was a true pleasure to talk with Jon, and to convey my thanks to him for inducting me into the field that has been my life.
